The interactive exhibition stand

the interactive exhibition stand

The world’s largest inland port, duisport Hafen AG, presented itself with a new logo and modern color scheme at its 270 sqm, two-story exhibition stand at transport logistic in Munich. Duisport is one of the most important logistics locations in Central Europe and encompasses logistics services, packaging logistics, rail freight transport, project logistics, and consulting services.
AMECKO GmbH conceptualized and realized an exhibition presence where the leading logistics company presented itself as a strong service network. Their guiding principle: “We are the network” was impressively staged as an architectural interpretation, visible from a distance.
The very next glance reveals the company structure. Circles connected by lines extend as floor and ceiling elements across the entire area, symbolizing the connections of duisport as a whole, as well as its subsidiaries and partners with their networked service portfolios. Through the three-dimensional visualization, visitors gained a lasting impression of the advantages of the full-service provider within a solid network as a “Gateway to Europe.” A system that not only symbolically demonstrated its efficiency.

Space for sales and communication with opinion leaders

The ground floor was designed by AMECKO GmbH to provide ample space for exchange and communicative encounters. A spacious counter, a fully equipped kitchen with catering, and sufficient seating created an atmosphere conducive to good conversations, relaxed breaks, and musically accompanied evening events. 10 steles depicted the individual business areas and structured the partners without losing focus on networking.

Exciting Analog Eye-Catcher

A special eye-catcher was the specially designed rotating column, which could rotate and unfold four double-sided graphic surfaces. This analog marvel of technology, using concealed chain hoists, opened a billboard-like display that showcased the inland port as a whole. Afterwards, the electronically controlled walls rotated open, displaying on four rectangular information panels the international network embedded within the inland port. The perfect stage to engage interested visitors.

Best of Interaction

Among the highlights of the exhibition stand was a virtual reality tour through the world’s largest inland port. To make duisport’s work not only informatively tangible but also vivid for visitors, AMECKO took representative 360° photos of the inland port. Duisport also contributed 360° drone footage, allowing viewers to get a perfect impression of how the port and all its networks function in a short time. For example, one could see how huge gantry cranes at the D3T Trimodal Terminal loaded and unloaded container ships. The transfer of an extremely large and heavy sea freight crate, which was moved by overhead cranes at duisport packing logistics via rails to the harbor basin and loaded there, was also impressive.
Visitors could look around everywhere, retrieve information, and thus familiarize themselves with the different locations without being physically on site. Guided by a moderator who saw on a screen what the VR headset user saw, the system provided the opportunity for competent guidance and explanation. Whether just 5 minutes or an extended tour, as desired, the tours left a lasting impression.
The highlight of the 360° locations was certainly the “forklift experience” on a semicircular stage with a large screen, which made the visual excursion with the VR headset visible to other exhibition visitors. Here, the view from a 12-meter-high forklift became more tangible. The drone footage of the harbor basins was also particularly impressive from this perspective.

Klaus Zittrich, Managing Director of AMECKO GmbH, summarizes: “For the sales team of duisport Hafen AG, the VR headsets were definitely a perfect medium to ‘just’ whisk their customers away from Munich to Duisburg. These were impactful excursions that remained in the visitors’ best memories.”

The Double Story

On the second level, AMECKO also created spaces for communication, presentation, and networking. A staircase led to the second floor. In addition to a hallway, there was an open meeting area with a closed balustrade and a good overview of the stand activities.
From the hallway, one could access a meeting room excellently equipped with media technology, as well as a VIP room, from which round windows offered a good view over the entire exhibition stand. The windows were translucently printed, allowing meeting participants an unobstructed view of the exhibition activities. For the lighting concept in the ceiling structure, AMECKO relied on a mix of general and targeted, accentuating lighting to atmospherically and optimally showcase the well-structured information.
Ultimately, the duisport Hafen AG brand presence was bundled into a comprehensive and successful package through many appealing architectural elements, various exciting interactions, lively communication, analog and digital highlights, and selected media and lighting technology.
