Effect pigments were the stars of the Merck booth at the European Coatings Show 2015 in Nuremberg. They were featured everywhere\u2014some prominently displayed, others subtly integrated into the two-story booth. For the exhibition construction specialists at AMECKO GmbH from Oberhausen, the challenge was to showcase the innovative superparticles for the paints and coatings industry in a way that was both application-oriented and visually appealing, while creating a cohesive overall concept under the slogan “Living Innovation”. <\/p>\n\n
The automotive sector provided exceptional vehicles to demonstrate the performance of Merck’s high-tech pigments: whether as an eye-catching sports car in special effect coating or as stylish color samples on miniature model car bodies, the so-called Carshapes. Elements of the actual booth design incorporated application examples of the innovative surface solutions for the construction and architecture industry, allowing them to directly and practically engage the professional audience\u2014for instance, through large-scale use in wall and floor construction, exemplifying their application in building facades or flooring. <\/p>\n\n
In developing the booth concept, AMECKO pursued two objectives, as Key Account Manager Winfried Tataryn reveals. “First, we wanted to fully leverage the communicative potential of the newly developed key visuals\u2014fascinating landscapes and captivating portraits of big cats.” The new visual worlds of Merck’s communication were therefore presented in large format with backlighting at a total of eight product displays directly along the aisle to captivate visitors. “Our other main focus was on illuminating all exhibits and demo tools, from the vehicle to the pigmented wooden floor to the facade panels and color samples,” Tataryn continues. With great care, his team implemented a professional lighting concept that optimally and invisibly showcased everything, bringing out the special properties of the effect pigments. The Oberhausen team left nothing to chance: the lighting was meticulously tested in advance, partly under laboratory conditions. <\/p>\n\n
The booth architecture itself was functional and deliberately understated in color. The 180 square meters of the ground floor were entirely dedicated to exhibits and communication. For this purpose, either eight counters at the displays or four glazed, individually designed meeting cabins were available. At two touchscreens, professional visitors could interactively access further information and inspiration. An unusually wide screen above the sports car provided additional attraction with engaging product videos. On the 100-square-meter upper floor, a spacious lounge invited visitors to take a break with coffee specialties and cocktails.
