The ten best ideas of the current year were presented at the end of November at RAISE Day in Essen to nearly 200 international executives, and subsequently, the top three were selected. The conception, realization, and on-site setup of the exhibition in the Great Hall of the Evonik Campus were handled by AMECKO GmbH.

“A particular challenge for us was to present the sometimes quite complex interrelationships of the respective projects in a striking and easily comprehensible manner at the stands,” reports Klaus Zittrich, Managing Director of the Oberhausen exhibition construction company. “And the presentations had to be optimally adapted to the spatial and temporal conditions.” The event was tightly organized by the client and required a clear structure within the location. Twelve rotating groups, each with about 15 participants, necessitated a narrow time window in which all projects could be quickly and understandably conveyed by the responsible RAISE teams – even for non-German-speaking attendees. Likewise, sufficient space around each stand was needed to ensure optimal visibility for every participant and to allow for smooth transitions between the individual stations. Furthermore, a generous area for all guests in front of the stage had to remain available parallel to the stands, and ample opportunity for subsequent discussion about the lectures and presentations had to be provided. Since the entire one-day event took place in a single hall, disruptive structural changes were out of the question.

The focus of the individual groups was not only on easily understandable projects, such as the reduction of group-wide printing costs, but also on highly specialized, complex issues, for example, from the IT sector. “Whether easily or more difficult to access, we wanted to communicate all content metaphorically and strikingly,” explains AMECKO Managing Director Zittrich. “The trade visitors should be able to experience the topics interactively and even touch exhibits.” As a central, uniform element, illuminated displays at each stand provided visual highlights and presented five questions and answers as an introduction to the respective topic. A unique eye-catcher was the replica of the Evonik Campus in Essen with backlit pictograms symbolizing various solutions in building management. In contrast to the rather static light installations were movable elements that made the topics tangible. A good example was the transfer of an accounting process optimization to two battery-powered gear systems: one with many small, unharmoniously running gears and, as a counterpart, one with interlocking large gears. AMECKO developed the overall layout in close consultation with the RAISE Day manager from Evonik and the design office Hilbig Strübbe Partner, following the guidelines of the Essen-based specialty chemicals group.

AMECKO also managed the media technology for the presentations. The individual stands were equipped with screens, iPads, and docking stations for intranet applications of the RAISE teams, as required. In addition, the Oberhausen team furnished a media room for a workshop outside the hall.

As part of the RAISE Performance Management Program, project groups from Evonik Services GmbH had sought optimization potential within the group.
