Oversized Eye-Catcher for Amgen

Oversized eye-catcher for Amgen

Amgen stood out with a 120 sqm stand at the 84th Annual Meeting of the German Cardiac Society (DGK) at the Congress Center Rosengarten in Mannheim.

Under the theme “From Basic Research to High-Performance Medicine,” 8,700 organizers, speakers, and participants gathered at the conference. Among them was the cardiology division of Amgen, headquartered in Thousand Oaks, USA, to present the product benefits of an LDL-C lowering preparation in an extraordinary way.

Due to years of collaboration, the preparation, design, and realization of the congress stand were handled by AMECKO from Oberhausen. The main focus was to manufacture the highly complex concept idea from the creative agency Peix in close coordination and to stage it optimally as an eye-catcher within the stand construction: oversized arteries and a heart model.

The blanks for the models, which are unique in this dimension in all of Europe, were manufactured using an exclusive 3D printing process in Switzerland. The particular challenge was the design, programming, and production of the eye-catcher, made of UV-cured material, in just four weeks.

On-site, the AMECKO team also had only a short period of time available for assembly. This was because the stand area had previously been used as storage space for other exhibitors. “Short timeframes do not throw us off. We have a well-coordinated team that works quickly and precisely even under pressure,” said Dieter Happel, the authorized signatory responsible for the project at AMECKO GmbH. For the Oberhausen-based company, this was already the third new concept for Amgen in the field of cardiology, following the success of the previous two.

In addition to the 120 sqm Amgen stand, the exhibition builder also realized the congress participation of the Institute for Myocardial Infarction Research (IHF), the podium table specially designed for the organizer with fixtures for media and conference technology, and the congress stand of the organizer, the German Cardiac Society. This collaboration has also been a model of success for many years. Besides the stand construction, the registration area, the bag drop, the exhibition space for the historical archive, and, for the first time, the appearance of the Young Cardiologists of the DGK were planned and implemented.

After Amgen’s successful participation in the annual meeting, the exhibition builders began dismantling—but not AMECKO. The exhibition professional used the dismantling phase to remodel the Amgen stand for the Congress of the German Society of Internal Medicine (DGIM), which took place shortly thereafter.

In advance, Alexander Vuillot, the authorized signatory responsible for the project from the AMECKO team, had developed a cost-efficient and resource-saving concept in coordination with the client, allowing the stand to be adapted to a reduced area of 80 sqm and ready for use in time for the 124th DGIM Congress. “Sustainability and thus resource-saving actions are a high priority for us. We therefore develop individual concepts for each client and look for the best ways to save, in order to avoid wasting materials or unnecessary storage costs, among other things,” says the authorized signatory.

At the DGIM Congress, the exhibition builder also realized another stand for Lilly Pharmaceuticals Deutschland GmbH, where a product innovation in the field of diabetes was scientifically explained using media technology and an elaborately manufactured pen model.

The autumn congresses are already in the planning stages and will bring the next highlights. “In the field of oncology, we will be at the DGS next autumn, among others,” says Vuillot. “And for the DGK, the ESC Congress 2018 of the European Society of Cardiology in Munich is on the schedule. Furthermore, we will be on the road for our pharmaceutical clients at congresses such as DEGRO, TDAH, DGVS, ADO, DGU, DGRh, as well as DGfN and DGHO,” the AMECKO account manager announces with great anticipation.
